Athletics faculty in Gonzaga university

A new sport - so often referred to as American rugby - the first played on the campus of Gonzaga before 500 fans. The sport quickly became known as football and Gonzaga was able to compete until 1942, when there were not enough male students to form a team because of his service in World War II.

Today, Gonzaga offers athletic opportunities on many levels: clean, club and NCAA Division I. Over 60 percent of students attend GU some form of intramural activity, while our student-athletes as part of the West Coast Conference in volleyball, soccer, cross country skiing, basketball, baseball , rowing, tennis, golf and beach.

The spirit that prevails Gonzaga, mixed with hard work and dedication in their sporting activities, successful performance on both the track and in the classroom.
